3ds homebrew ports9/24/2023 ![]() Aperture Science alone is reason enough to get an R4 3DS card, and validates what we've been saying for years. This game shows that with the right design and coding experience, a freeware game can be just as good (if not better) than a lot of the commercial game offerings out there. an entirely new gameplay mechanic ! (not fully implemented yet but I think it's going to be pretty neat).more or less working puzzle elements (including buttons, dispensers, turrets, energy ball things, doors, emancipation grids.).a full fledged rigid body physics engine for turrets, cubes and stuff (watch the video, I think it's pretty cool for a DS game).okay player physics (for instance, momentum is conserved when going through a portal, flinging works great).working portals (you can place them, look through them, go through them).A work in progress is not a bad thing, it means that they're still working on making it even better. And why not? There are so many creative people out there, that love modding and making game levels that this should be a sure sign of some long term portal style gaming on the Nintendo 3DS, DS and DSI systems.Īs the developer has stated, the game is still something of a work in progress, though it is certainly finished and polished enough that all of us here in the office had a blast spending an hour playing it. The developers hope is that with the level editor, portal fans everywhere will take the time to make their own creative levels and upload and share them with the rest of the community. Smealun & Lobo seem to have thought of everything. You can create your own levels, share them online with friends and download new levels created by other gamers. With the included level editor, this game is going to have endless replay value. This allows a lot of truly unique level creations, and he plans on making the original campaign using doug rattman as a protagonist. His plan of course is to continue the development of the game and make it as good as possible. But if there is one thing you should never doubt, its homebrew developers making weird and niche things that not many people are going to see.Smealun has said himself that he's been working in this game for quite some time, and thought it was time to release it. I would love an Omori port on 3ds, but it probably is unlikely because I doubt that there are a lot of Omori fans who want to play it on 3ds and know how to code games for a 3ds. But the way to obtain it and be able to play it can still be up in the air. ![]() So if there ever is an Omori 3ds, it will have to be a. Unfortunately, with the eshop closing, it doesn't look like there will be a way to get Omori on a 3ds without cfw. They could just put Omori 3ds for free without you needing a specific file for it, which could be nice and I don't think that Omori 3ds would damage sales all too much, but there still probably be some sort of check like with the Sonic ports. Put the Omori 3ds port onto Universal Downloader and online, but you need a specific file from the Steam version of Omori in order to play it. cia file with any purchase of the steam version (kinda like how Micro Mages contains an NES rom of the game in its files)Ĭ. cia file which you can then install if you have a cfw 3ds.ī. So, there could be a similar thing, the developers and fans could work on trying to port it on 3ds and eitherĪ, have on their own site and then you can buy it for like $10 - 20 and you get a. (Now with sonic origins taking these original ports on steam down, I don't know how they work now but anyways) You can download these fan ports from either online or Universal Downloader however, you cannot play them unless you bring a specific file from the Steam version to play them. Something they could do is something similar to the fan made sonic ports on a homebrew 3ds.
